REACH is for urgent concerns during a hospital stay, for example:

  • You notice a worrying change in a patient’s condition
  • Something does not feel right
  • You feel your concerns are not being heard

We are running 3 small focus groups for carers and community members in South Western Sydney.

You can join in person or online (hybrid sessions).

  • 11am, Monday 23 February – Liverpool Hospital
  • 4pm, Tuesday 24 February – Campbelltown Hospital
  • 9:30am, Wednesday 25 February – Bankstown

Each session will include:

  • A short explanation of REACH
  • A quick survey about:
    • Whether people have heard of REACH
    • Whether they know the difference between REACH and a complaint
  • A chance to share your ideas and experiences

REACH is a NSW hospital program that helps patients, families and carers speak up if they are worried a patient is getting worse.

REACH is for urgent concerns during a hospital stay, for example:

  • A patient is getting worse
  • Something does not feel right
  • You feel your concerns are not being heard

REACH helps get the right staff to review the patient quickly.

In 2026, SWSLHD is relaunching the REACH program.

We want REACH to be:

  • Easy to understand
  • Culturally safe and respectful
  • Useful for families, carers and patients

That’s why we want to hear from you.

We welcome:

  • Carers and family members
  • People from diverse cultural and language backgrounds
  • Anyone who has supported someone in hospital

You do not need medical knowledge or experience with REACH.

Your feedback will help us:

  • Improve how REACH is explained
  • Make it more accessible for multicultural communities
  • Ensure carers feel confident to speak up

Together, we can make hospital care safer and more responsive for everyone.
