SWSLHD, NSW Council for Pacific Communities, Talk2mebro and Campbelltown Council are working together to provide an art-led end-of-life literacy workshop that equips Pacific Islander communities, particularly current and/or future carers of loved ones, with the tools and skills to navigate death and dying within their communities.

Project Goals:

1. Work with cultural leaders from Pasifika communities to design and run workshops that use art to talk about illness, dying, death and grief in a way that is culturally appropriate for communities in the Campbelltown local government area.

2. Create a safe and welcoming space for people to share their personal experiences with caregiving, dying, death and grief. Stories will be used to help create better end-of-life resources for Pasifika communities.

3. Provide Pasifika communities with resources and information on services that can support themselves and their loved ones at the end of life.

4. Start a conversation between the SWSLHD Palliative Care Service and Pasifika community groups to better understand how to provide cultural support in formal care services.

This project is a recipient of the 2025 SWSLHD Multicultural Grant.
